Amanda Brugel
(February 27 2010 - Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a secluded community in that part of the island of Montreal called the West Island. Many people who don't know about the place mistakenly think that it is the West Island extends westward from Montreal. It is actually, this is not the case. West Island includes everything westward from the city of Lachine. The West Island is frequently referred to as the birthplace of Amanda Brugel but while that is true, her stay there was not long. Brugel grew in Courtice located just outside of Oshawa. Her initial ambition was to pursue a career as an actress but after a sudden growth spurt her partners weren't able to dance along with her. She admitted in an article that was published in The Toronto Star that she is 6'1" tall, even when she wears heels. As soon as I outgrew my male counterparts, I stopped. Bruce was among the former dancers who turned into acting. The teacher she had at high school encouraged her to take the next step. She was encouraged to take part in an audition in the school's production. The teacher who suggested she pursue a part the school's annual show. This led to the award of a Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the year 2000. Over the past 20 years since Brugel has landed roles on more than 60 productions across small and big screens. She attracted the most interest when she was offered the character as Rita on the award-winning series The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the sole Canadian part of the cast during Season 1 of the series, and not seen much.
